That didn't end as well as it ought to have. In the chaos of the rally, we've managed to get the actually wounded to fall back towards the cafe. Madame has claimed she doesn't mind, so long as we keep the treatments to the table we already ruined once and don't scare away the rest of the customers. And I think we may need to order the lobster thermidor for the ten of us a time or two to make up for it, but for now, there are more important things at hand. Whatever happened with the gunshots...and no that was NOT the police, has to be investigated just as soon as possibly. And, for all the fact he has a close friend who was hurt by it, that does mean Grantaire, doesn't it?

Not the person I would hope to see in the face of abject failure to control things, but that will have to do.

Decision Reached

I have given up on the idea and concept of working for Americans in the near future. I haven't quite resigned yet, but I made it clear in my last mail that I am strongly considering it. With greater focus on our issues here in Paris, and those that impact us elsewhere, I can do more immediate good in pushing forward to whatever end we're pushed towards.

Obviously, there is a LOT for us to do to get to a point where a republic is feasible, but it IS feasible in future, and the majority of those I speak with do agree. Therefore, it's the rest of the work that needs to be done, and promoted, and made official and important.

And the fact Brian seems to feel the need to treat me like a child because I decided to leave Paris is completely ridiculous as it stands. I'm not going to sit by and let awful things happen when I can call attention to them, now am I? That's a path for others to justify to themselves, if they can or choose to.

Instead, well. There are plenty of other places and people to talk to here. La Lumiere has a good reputation and could probably use more content as it is, Le National without Carrell is still an option once he's out, or I speak to his assistants and...well. More than one fish in the sea so they say.

Let's prove that theory, no?

I leave Paris and Carrell gets himself arrested in a duel? Not that I'd have made for an ideal second, by any means, but I'd have gone to see the man at least. Seems like while he's in, the least that I can do is brighten up his day a little, rouse some rabble if I can.

I've got David Landeau and his amazing eye for imagery along, and like we managed when the ladies marched, I think we have a decent chance at some great shots to go with some okay words and see what we come up with in terms of something that'll sell. If Carrell can't print and Brian won't, despite the threatening messages he sent when he figured out I was in the air over Paris, then someone with the AP probably will...

We're on our way towards the mining operation itself , hoping to find something to help support both what's going on with the crowd and Mlle. Moore and hopefully find out how we can help them fix what's going on...

To Lorena

I am actually much calmer now, and have a few ideas in mind, post our meeting and discussion of other issues, for how to resolve the problem I am currently having in the way of work. Simply because one editor is not willing to fund or publish me is no reason another would not accept a piece or column once I have already gotten to the station, right?

And I have quite enough for a ticket, the semester is nearly enough over...

I think that we all know what it is I have to do here. Luckily, I have the money for my funding. Surely once that's happened...

Let us just see what's to come, right? What else is there to do but heed the call?

All right, all right. Here I am, ready to communicate with all of you because...

I really have no idea why we ARE doing this in the first place other than a useful place to lock our meeting notes and other sensitive documents and perhaps gather support along the way but...game enough, if a little bit exhausted at the moment. Class and then being screeched at at work over something that is NOT really a big deal are not the way to end a Thursday, and Brian is far too cautious for anyone's good right now. With everything that's going on up at Lorena? We really, really need to get our resources together too. If they can start to rally towards something, so can we.

It's not as though the fervour's not already partly there, now is it? It's the best chance we have of moving forward in our work, seeing things done, and he tells me to wait a while, that he isn't going to send or print me. And Carrell's not in position for it yet, or I'd appeal to him to print it too. I swear that there are days it doesn't pay at all.

Les amis D'lABC meeting tonight, if anyone is interested to attend besides Grantaire, who I know will be there anyway, and my actually trusted lieutenants who'll be there no matter what. We welcome new ideas and perspectives when it comes to the world at large, and particular its effects upon the French Republic and what actually could be.

With any luck, finals notwithstanding, we actually get something DONE tonight.
