Sounds like a fantastic start right there. Permits may be trickier from what I've read to have anything circulate on location. I'm not sure how to get around it but I'm limited to a few regions other than in Paris.
Checking the embassy though. That's a really good potential tip. Arrests. How likely are those to be a problem? Depending on average reporter behavior?
